Asian Star in Midvale

I used to think I knew what good Chinese food was, but then I was introduced to Asian Star. I can't believe what I have been missing out on for so many years! This is one of my favorite Asian restaurants ever! The servers are very nice and the overall service is fantastic! I've been here with just a couple people and I've been here with large groups (twenty-ish people) and they've never seemed to have a problem. Food was delicious and service wonderful! The only downside is they are not fast food, so if you're looking for a quick meal, think elsewhere. This is a sit-down place where you want to enjoy the atmosphere. Unfortunately, they do not have a lot of parking, so you may have to use the parking lot next door. It is free though.

My wife found this place on Find Me Gluten Free. I'm Celiac, as are my two children. We ordered the Walnut Chicken and Garlic Shrimp (spicy) and my kids both ate the chicken like it was going out of style. My kids never eat this much! The garlic shrimp was cooked to perfection, and my white guy spicy level hit its peak. My nose was running on the second bite, but I just had to finish it because it was delicious. My wife had stomach surgery a few years back and picked at the chicken and also had egg drop soup. It family was delighted by how tasty this place was! Highly recommended.

Sweetest lady helped me over the phone since I’ve never ordered from here. Well packaged take out, and the food was amazing. Orange chicken, wantons, and the beef was delicious! I will be going back.

I went to Asian Star with my family yesterday and was sorely disappointed. I hadn’t been to this restaurant for about 10 years, and thought it would be great. The service was sub par, the appetizers were lukewarm at best, and in my opinion, I can go to about any Chinese Restaurant to get the same quality of food for a hell of a lot cheaper. I think that if I am going to drop $130.00 on a meal, than I expect it to be great. They didn’t even clear the plates orPlatters until I asked a manager. I most certainly will not be back!!

Excellent! Wanted to go here for a long time and we finally did. The food and service was excellent. Large portions. Highly recommend!

My favorite Chinese restaurant in town. Amazing food and fast service. Very good ambience and excellent staff. My favorite is the King Pao chicken.

Nice decor. Food was okay. I ordered egg dtop soup and it was like slime. They replaced it with a wonderful vegetable soup. Was hard to get a servers attention and then they didn't speak English so it made it frustrating. Overall was just ok.

Gave me the wrong fried rice! They put ham in it, who eats fried rice with ham? The dumplings were very doughy and barley chewable. The General Tso's chicken was dry and there was no sauce. The noodles in the Lo Mien were over cooked. This is not a Karen review, I'm 19. It was disgusting and over priced.

Good food and the portions are good size. Price was little to much for me but overall it was good food and the staff was friendly and fast.

Great service, friendly staff. The meals in the photograph are the Kung Pao chicken and Mandarin beef, both of which have just the right amount of spice and flavor. Kind of a cool, two-story Asian twist atmosphere. Good place to try out!

Always great service, wonderful food, they’re very incline to make you feel welcome and their food is fresh cooked so as DELICIOUS! My favorite Asian restaurant in SLC.

The VIEW! If only I could capture the ambience of its elegance in my own dining room. The service is professional but not cold, unique but not intrusive. The food met my expectations. The experience as a whole is worth remembering.

Excellent service and food! Our 5 month old was getting a little fussy and the very kind host brought her a toy to play with. They made sure we all had a great time.

Came for a work do. It's a really nice place with a great selection of food. I ordered the Asian Star bowl of Pho...the broth wasn't great, kinda watered down. It had lots of proteins and veggies but a bowl of pho is only as good as it's broth. The rest of the menu looked terrific. Definitely worth visiting.

Not overly impressed. It's pretty average as far as Chinese food goes. The parking lot is very disappointing though. I came for a work party, and had to park a block away because there were no available spots.

I like to see what a chef can do with a simple meal. So, when I'm having Chinese, I always order Sweet Sour Pork. The chef's rendition as Honey Nectar Pork is beautiful. Even the fried butterfly shrimp show quality and care. So tender.

I’ve been to this restaurant for years. It’s always been a favorite! If you haven’t been here, I would highly recommend! Very good food, pleasant staff, and a good atmosphere. Their menu is pretty varied and I have yet to find something I didn’t like.

Asian Star was the best! The food was amazing and the staff was even better. We have a 5 month old baby and don't get out much these days. The hostess kept our entertained so that we could finish our meal. We will definitely be coming back for a long time.

I am never disappounted. Gary, owner/manager, is always tentitive to his custones. Great atmosphere n decor. Parking can be a challenge but you can park north of the restaurant at the church parking lot. It is worth it. I bring my friends n customers there frequently. Lettuce cups, pot stickers are a must.

Trust me your gonna love it.. I've been over a dozen times, it never disappoints. Definelty a family favorite.

I always adore this place! The food is always delicious and I don't think I have ever seen a glass less than halfway full! The service is spectacular and the decor lifts the spirit of the place giving it a very relaxing feel! There are so many things on the menu I recommend as well as the happy hour 1/2 off sushi rolls! Mmm delicious!

Every time my spouse and I come here we are never disappointed. The food is so tasty and service is great. We always have left overs which never leave us disappointed, plus the decor is great!!!

Amazing food! My family has been coming here since they were at the old canyon racquet club! Gary is the man and he is always so kind! Come here once and he’ll remember you forever!

Just stopped in for a quick lunch . Very friendly staff! Extremely good service! Fantastic food!! The general's chicken is excellent, and the sweet and sour cannot be beat. Wontons for the appetizer made it a excellent meal. This is one of the best Chinese restaurants in Salt Lake. I will definitely be back for dinner! I love the aquariums, makes for a nice atmosphere.

One of my favorite places to go - have been a weekly visitor the entire year of 2019 and still come back hungry and leave happy each visit. The Gluten Free menu is expansive and they’re quick about getting their food out. The wait staff do a great job and the cost is exceptional.

We have followed Gary through all of his restaurants and they all have been very good food. Lots of friendliness, he goes around and checks on you. He takes pride in his business.

Was a little on the pricier side of Asian food I've had but dang it was good! The service was amazing too! I would highly recommend!

4 star because Sushi not served til around 6pm. Service is ok but willing to sacrifice for the food. Lettuce wraps are amazing.

This place came highly recommended. We were traveling through town so we decided to stop. Definitely nothing special. We ordered pot stickers for an appetizer and they were chewy and undercooked. The sauce they serve them with was very tasty but we would not order them again if we were to go back. I don’t remember the names of our dishes we ordered. Both were chicken and they were average. We also ordered some low mein. Expensive food for the quantity and taste. Would definitely expect better food. Service was ok.

Safe & Tasty Gluten Free Chinese Takeout!Dedicated kitchen space, fryer and modified recipes to ensure the dishes are GF. Both the Walnut Chicken and the Tangerine Chicken are breaded with a tasty GF batter and deep fried to perfection! The Garlic Chicken Stir Fry and the Chicken Lettuce wraps are also very good! Good sized portions too!

Ordered take out due to all restaurants being closed and Asian Star did a phenomenal job!

Me and my wife went to celebrate and it has a great location. They have a valet service that was quick and convenient. We got there about six on a Friday night and there was no wait. The wait staff was attentive and nice and the food was delicious! I got the walnut shrimp and my wife got the sizzling shrimp. We also got lettuce wraps for an appetizer and it was a very filling meal! Wonderful experience and we will definitely go back

There food is good and their staff is really helpful. It's costs a little bit more, but it is definitely worth it for the price.

Top quality food. Truly five star dining. Their combinations are amazing. I suggest you try the Walnut shrimp was worth every penny, and the sesame beef is amazing, and a full sushi menu. The service is not the norm as your water glass will never be empty. All set in a modern meets Asian fusion of furniture and decor straight from the source for an authentic feel. They also have a patio so you might feel cute and, idk dine out under the night sky.

We love Asian star during the holidays. A great place to get together with friends.

I've driven by this place many times, and finally decided to try it. I'm so glad I did. The host was extremely professional, and I felt like I was at a very high end restaurant. The service was fast, and the food was so good. I highly recommend the potstickers. The architecture and decor is beautiful as well. I was pleasantly surprised at how reasonable the price was after the experience. They could charge twice as much, and it would still be worth it.
